Hey everyone, Our school just read a book called "The Teaching for Understanding Guide" by Tina Blythe (link below). It creates a framework for teaching that capitalizes on making the students think about understanding goals and overall course themes. The four steps are: 1) Choosing Generative Topics that both you and the students will be interested in. 2) Figure out the Understanding Goals you are trying to achieve. 3) Create interesting Performances of Understanding. 4) Planning Ongoing Assessment that actual assesses the learning that is taking place. Has anyone done anything with this book or these ideas?
